In Decision 28605-D01-2024, dated January 16, 2024, the AUC approved the AESO’s application, pursuant to Section 20.21(1)(a) of the EUA. Amended Section 306.4 will come into effect on April 1, 2024.

Application Filed with Commission

On November 9, 2023 the AESO filed an application for Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approval of Section 306.4 - Transmission Planned Outage Reporting and Coordination pursuant to Section 20.2 of the Electric Utilities Act and AUC Rule 017.

Background

Following an external rule proposal, the AESO consulted with Stakeholders on the amendment of Section 306.4 of the ISO Rules, Transmission Planned Outage Reporting and Coordination. The purpose of the amendment is to provide clarity regarding change to, and cancellations of, requests for scheduled transmission outages. Additionally, the AESO is proposing the removal of subsection 3(5) as it is no longer required. Other administrative amendments are being proposed that will not change the effect of the ISO Rule.
