Draft Design | Share your ideas
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded.Share an Idea
We want to hear what you think of our draft design. Deadline for comments is extended to November 25th. Share your idea on the idea board and view what others have already submitted. By liking the ideas you support, we can collect your feedback and better understand the operational needs of AESO market tool users. Bear in mind that our goal for this first phase is a like-for-like function set when compared to the web page interfaces.
Here are a few thought starters:
- Which functions will be ideal for proof-of-concept and preliminary development of your own solutions?
- Are any functions more valuable to your processes than others?
- Is there a function from the web page interfaces we haven’t considered in the proposed design?
Things To Keep in Mind
This is a space for sharing ideas on how the AESO can move forward improving and evolving our market tools. Contributions that are off-topic, or contain inappropriate or personally identifying information will be removed. If you have multiple ideas to share, consider posting them individually. This will help other readers to show their support for the ideas that resonate with them.
We understand this is a new tool for collecting feedback. Please contact MarketTools@aeso.ca if you have any questions or need any clarification.
Voltus-Nicole-IrwinVietover 1 year agoRecommend using certificates for authentication
We recommend using client certificates from a central provider like OATI to authenticate requests. If a central certificate provider is not utilized, we would prefer to not use client certificates at all, as has been suggested as a primary goal. We recommend that any solution selected be non-proprietary and suitable for both human and machine users, and offer convenience agnostic of platform of choice.

An interface for short videos with training would be helpful and easy to achieve. Individuals presently only have the manuals: https://www.aeso.ca/market/energy-trading-system-tools/ This could extend beyond ETS and ADaMS to include: - other AESO tools including the AESO Self Certification Tool - yearly self certification training by Compliance Monitoring Group - regular audit training
0 comment0TransAltaover 1 year agoImprove ETS Certificates renewal and extend the 1 year limitation
For some background, when renewing an AESO certificate (every year), the renewed cert often comes to our PKI client, and it is easy to export and send to the appropriate user without ever having to contact the AESO. However, every now and then, the renewed certificate does not show up in the PKI client and I need to reach out to the AESO to see where it is, or to ask them to renew it. The odd time the certificate appears to be ‘lost,’ so TA personnel need to restart the renewal process. This can be a bit time consuming and confusing. It would be beneficial if the certificates lasted more than one year before going up for renewal again.
