Consultation has concluded

Application Approved

On April 7, 2026, the AUC issued Decision 30725-D01-2026 approving the AESO's Application for Administrative Amendments to Section 501.3 of the ISO Rules, effective April 7, 2025.

On April 7, 2026 he AESO filed an Application for Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approval of the Administrative Amendments to Section 501.3 of the ISO Rules pursuant to section 20.6 of the Electric Utilities Act and AUC Rule 017 in proceeding 30725.

Purpose

Pursuant to Alberta Utilities Commission Rule 017, Procedures and Process for Development of ISO Rules and Filing of ISO Rules with the Alberta Utilities Commission (“AUC Rule 017”), the Alberta Electric System Operator (“AESO”) is providing notice and seeking feedback from the Stakeholders on administrative amendments to proposed amended Section 501.3.

The AESO is proposing an administrative amendment to Section 501.3 to correct a naming error. This amendment will update the reference to reflect the current title of AUC Rule 007 without changing the intent or effect of the ISO rule.

The administrative amendment includes:

  • Correcting a reference in Section 501.3, subsection 4(a), by removing the reference “Applications for Power Plants, Substations, Transmission Lines, Industrial System Designations, Hydro Developments and Gas Utility Pipelines” and replacing it with “Facility Applications."

The AESO is of the opinion that the scope of the issues identified is minimal. Therefore, the AESO is targeting completion of stakeholder consultation for the proposed amended Section 501.3 by Q2.
