Reliability Standards Sync Up Implementation and Sustainment | Jun. 4 - Jun. 24, 2026
Comment Period: Jun. 4 - Jun. 24, 2026
Purpose
The AESO is looking ahead and building plans for the Reliability Standards Sync Up (RSSUP) Implementation and Sustainment project phases. The AESO introduced RSSUP Implementation and Sustainment concepts at the Reliability Standards Workshop on April 21. Implementation activities begin when the AESO files the Alberta Reliability Standards with the Alberta Utilities Commission and end when the RSSUP ARS are in effect. The AESO is committed to supporting a successful implementation plan that drives industry alignment, supports market participant readiness, and results in strong reliability, security, and ARS compliance outcomes. Sustainment phase activities include the AESO’s assessment and optimization of the ARS development process to keep Alberta aligned with NERC/WECC standards to reduce future burden and uncertainty on stakeholders.
The AESO will expand on some of these key concepts at the June 11 Reliability Standards Discussion Group, where we will engage stakeholders in a verbal dialogue to solicit stakeholder feedback that will help inform our plans before we finalize them, and ensure we understand industry needs before we finalize our plans. We also invite stakeholders to provide written responses to these questions via the Stakeholder Survey on or before June 24, 2026.
