Sustaining Reliability Through the Transformation
The AESO hosted a virtual stakeholder information session on Aug. 11, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Purpose
- Provide stakeholders with an understanding of the AESO’s approach and plans to ensure reliability is sustained as the industry transforms to a more decarbonized and decentralized future
- Review reliability domains that the AESO is assessing through analysis and the action plans that will be developed through the AESO 2023 Reliability Requirements Roadmap
- Share preliminary perspectives on the future challenges anticipated within each reliability domain, the priority of action the AESO will be taking, and the AESO’s directional approach to address the highest priority reliability challenges
- Discuss how the Reliability Requirements Roadmap integrates with other current reliability-related initiatives (e.g., frequency response capability, Most Severe Single Contingency [MSSC] limits, intertie restoration) and analysis (e.g., Long-term Transmission Plan, System Flexibility Assessment, Net-Zero Emissions Pathways)
