June 26 | Stakeholder Update

On June 26, 2026, the AESO posted a Letter of Notice regarding amendments to ID #2021-006R and is providing Stakeholders with an opportunity to provide feedback on its proposed amendments. More information related to this session and registration details will be announced on AESO Engage when available.

Purpose

The AESO is proposing amendments to ID #2012-006R, Adequacy, Supply Shortfall and Energy Emergency Alerts (ID #2012-006R) to amend some of the variables used in the methodologies that the AESO relies upon to assess and report on the long-term adequacy of supply under subsection 4 of Section 202.6 of the ISO rules, Adequacy of Supply. The methodologies and variables are set out in Appendix 3 of ID #2012-006R, Calculations and Methodologies regarding Supply Adequacy (“Appendix 3”).

Engagement Plan and Process

The AESO recognizes that Stakeholders require information and context in order to provide meaningful feedback on the proposed amendments to Appendix 3. In addition to posting a blacklined and clean copy of the proposed amendments to Appendix 3 we plan to do the following:

  • The AESO is providing Stakeholders an opportunity to provide written feedback on the proposed amendments to Appendix 3, with comments due on July 31, 2026.
  • Prior to the close of the comment period, the AESO will host a Stakeholder engagement session on July 28, 2026 regarding the proposed amendments to Appendix 3.
  • The AESO will review Stakeholder feedback and consider whether revisions are required to the proposed amendments to Appendix 3. Additional engagement with Stakeholders may be scheduled if the AESO requires additional information or clarity.
  • Subject to Stakeholder feedback, the AESO expects that the proposed amendments to Appendix 3 will take effect on August 26, 2026.
